Are you familiar with what romantic date Korea has this month? Clue: It’s connected to Valentines’ Day.

Well I hope you aren’t too late yet but this March 14 is one of the ‘sweetest’ (unofficial) holidays in Korea…WHITE DAY!

On White Day, it is the guys who give sweets to the girls and/or women who gave treats or gifts to them during Valentines’ day. Generally, it’s (mostly) the women who give chocolates to the special people in their lives on February 14 and then they wait for March 14 for the men to return the favor. Don’t fret my single friends, this sweet (literally and figuratively) day is not just for couples! So it won’t be weird if you give chocolates or candies to your family, coworkers, teachers, seniors, friends, etc. as a nice gesture to reciprocate what they gave you last month. There is also nothing wrong with buying your own favorite sweets as a treat or reward for yourself.

I am pretty sure a lot of stores are now displaying boxes of chocolates and various gift sets to cater your needs and sweet tooth. I read somewhere that lollipops are actually more popular to give rather than chocolates on White day.
