Contemporary Korean sculptures and craftworks will soon be on display at the Grand Palais museum in Paris.

The Revelations: International Biennale of Fine Craft and Creation Fair will take place from Sept. 10 to 13. In celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Korea-France diplomatic relationship this year, Korea will be the country of honor at the exhibition. The international biennale is a fine arts and crafts fair that attracts people from major galleries and museums, including curators and renowned collectors.

Korea's participation as the country of honor at the exhibition this year is the first bilateral visual arts project held in celebration of the Years 2015-2016 of Korea-France Bilateral Exchanges. The Révélations en Corée exhibit at the Korean pavilion, which covers 150 square meters, is formed right in the center of the Grand Palais museum. The wall of the Korean pavilion is decorated in traditional Hanji mulberry paper and hanging screens, creating a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

The Korean pavilion will display 180 pieces of tradition-inspired modern crafts in six different fields, including ceramics and metal, textiles and glass, by 22 artists who have been well-received in overseas exhibitions.

In addition to the exhibition of crafts at the Korean pavilion, a number of events to introduce Korean arts more broadly will be underway. Artists from both Korea and France will take part in a project to decorate an entire rest area with Korean motifs. Joint works by Italian designer and architect Alessandro Mendini and Kang Keum Seong, a traditional jogakbo patchwork artist, will be on display at the pavilion, including cushions made of traditional materials. A reception will be held to serve Korean cuisine to important guests and a workshop for children will also take place during the biennale.
