Violinist Gidon Kremer will perform at the Seoul Arts Center on Oct. 7 and 9.
Classical maestros will bring musical nourishment to audiences across Korea this autumn.
To begin with, Latvian violinist Gidon Kremer will show off his virtuosity to audiences here on Oct. 7 and 8 at the Seoul Arts Center in southern Seoul. He will perform with the Ensemble Ditto, a group of young, promising musicians from both home and abroad.
In his Oct. 7 concert, he will bring to life some pieces by Schubert (1797-1828), including “Five Minutes and Six Trios” and “Variations on Trockne Blumen for Violin and Piano," from "
Die schöne Müllerin.” He also will play the Piano Quartet and Quintet by Russian composer Schnittke (1934-1998). On Oct. 9, Kremer will play some of the defining features of Schnittke's oeuvre: “
Moz-Art à la Haydn" and “Concerto for Three.”
Accompanying the violinist will be the Kremerata Baltica. Kremer established the ensemble in 1997 and it's made up of young musicians from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.
“Music allows for a new encounter,” said Kremer. “At the upcoming concerts, my goal is to bring such new encounters between Schnittke and Schubert and between Schnittke and Mozart.”

German conductor and pianist Christoph Eschenbach (top) spotlights Mozart’s music together with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Seoul Arts Center on Oct. 10.
On Oct. 10, German composer and pianist Christoph Eschenbach will appear on stage at the Seoul Arts Center to lead the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Together they will revive some of Mozart’s masterpieces, giving a rare chance to indulge in Mozart's music as presented by an orchestra from Vienna, one of Mozart’s strongholds.
Under the baton of the German composer, the orchestra will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 and Symphony No.s 40 and 41. At one point, Eschenbach will put down his baton, switch to the piano and play alongside the orchestra.
When asked about the upcoming concert, the musician said, “Each Mozart note sounds like a conversation with those who are listening, touching the listener's heart. A single musical note of his can be so pure and humane at the same time. The orchestra and I aspire to excite and move the audience.”

Saxophonist Kenny G. is set to perform in Seoul and Daegu on Oct. 10 and 11.
Finally, another star will be in Seoul and Daegu this month. Kenny G., a world-renowned saxophonist, will hold concerts in both cities in his “2015 Autumn Memories” concerts. The first will be at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on Oct. 10 and then at the EXCO convention center in northern Daegu on Oct. 11. The artist will play some of his hit songs, including “Loving You” and “Going Home.”
