The Cultural Heritage Administration reopens its digital cultural information service today. The website offers a wide range of historical records, pictures and videos related to Korea's cultural heritage.

An updated version of the government website, 'Korea National Heritage Online' (www.heritage.go.kr), opened today for the online community.

The revamped website is now a gateway portal that provides easy access to a wide range of materials on Korea's cultural heritage. The government hopes that the new portal will increase people's awareness of the depth and breadth of Korea's national treasures.

The homepage of the website offers visitors an opportunity to explore Korea's cultural heritage from many different angles.

The website is divided into three sections: 'Learning', 'Heritage Tours' and 'Cultural Experience'. In these sections, visitors can explore an archive of expository materials, pictures, videos, blueprints and research on Korea's cultural heritage. All materials are available for download.

3D simulation videos of cultural heritage sites in the 'Learning' section give people who aren't physically able to visit these locations the chance to explore architectural structures and historical sites.

Meanwhile, the 'Heritage Tours' section, divided into ten aspects of Korea's cultural history, offers over 500 videos and images of heritage sites all around the country.

Finally, the 'Cultural Experience' section introduces visitors to community programs such as heritage protection projects, cultural experience workshops and extra-curricular activities for adolescents offered at modern-day Confucian schools. There is also a sub-section for the mobile app 'cultural heritage tour guide', which allows users to access information on their smart phones.
