'The World of Us' has been invited to the Berlin International Film Festival to be held next month.

The film "The World of Us" ("우리들," 2015), directed by Yoon Ga-eun, has been invited to the 66th Berlin International Film Festival that will begin next month.

The film was nominated in the Generation section, whose nominees include coming-of-age stories for children and young adults. In the past, other Korean movies have been invited to the same section: "The Aggressives" ("태풍태양") in 2006, "Like a Virgin" ("천하장사 마돈나") in 2007, "A Brand New Life" ("여행자") in 2010, "Punch" ("완득이") in 2012 and "Pluto" ("명왕성") in 2013. In fact "Pluto" and "A Brand New Life" both won Special Mentions the years they were there.

"The World of Us," the first feature film for director Yoon, delicately describes the difficult relationships faced by an eleven-year-old girl. Yoon won the Crystal Bear for the Best Short Film, in the same Generation section, with her short "Sprout" ("콩나물," 2013) at the 64th Berlin Film Festival in 2014. Earlier in 2012, she won the special Jury Prize at the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival with her short "Guest" ("손님," 2012).

"I'm excited that I'm coming to Berlin again. Two years ago, I promised myself that I would come back, when I won the Crystal Bear in 2014," said the director.

Film director Yoon Ga-eun, who won a prize in the Generation section with her short film 'Sprout' in 2014, has been nominated in the same section once again this year. This time, however, it was her first feature film, 'The World of Us,' that has been invited to the movie festival.

"The World of Us" has been nominated for the Best First Feature Award at this year's Berlin festival, too.

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival will be held from Feb. 11 to 21.
