The annual International Horticulture Goyang Korea festival will run for 17 days from April 29 to May 15 at the Goyang Flower Exhibition Center at Ilsan Lake Park.

The gardens of Ilsan Lake Park in Goyang City are getting dressed in the colors of spring in preparation for the 2016 International Horticulture Goyang Korea festival.

The annual event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary as an international fair this year, will be opening its doors from April 29 to May 15. International floricultural trends as well as a rich variety of flower exhibits will be showcased at the event.

The indoor exhibition will feature a world trade pavilion with horticulturists from countries like China, Colombia and Malaysia in attendance. Representatives from overseas horticultural institutions in the Netherlands, Thailand and the U.S. will introduce current flower trends and present new plant varieties.

At the indoor flower pavilion, visitors will get a chance to look at new plant varieties developed by local Korean suppliers at the newly created special flower exhibit. Meanwhile, the Novelty and Fragrant pavilions will feature unusual and rare plant and flower varieties from around the world.

Six differently themed outdoor gardens await visitors at the 2016 International Horticulture Goyang Korea festival.

The outdoor exhibition is divided into six differently themed gardens, each with its own attractions. Visitors can check out a Korea-themed "Garden of the New Korean Wave," or enter into a "Happiness Zone" that is lined with over 150 meters of flower tunnels. There will be a "K-Star Fever Garden" for fans of Korean celebrities, a "Wonderland Cat Garden" for young children and a romantic "Proposal Garden" for couples.

During the fair there will also be a variety of concerts, parades and performances to enjoy. Visitors will be able to rent bicycles decorated with flowers and try their hand at flower decoration and at traditional Korean games.

The fair opens this year from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Evening concerts and light shows will illuminate the rose gardens after sunset.
