K-pop is gaining explosive popularity in Poland.

The Korean Cultural Center Poland announced on April 15 that a new radio program "Now is K-POP" or "Teraz K-POP" in Polish, airs on the national radio station every Thursday at 8 p.m. for one hour.

Beginning as a special project late last year, the show has now become part of regular scheduled programming, building on a series of concerts by K-pop groups Vixx, Block B, Boyfriend and Infinite. It is an unusual case that a K-pop radio program has become part of regularly scheduled programming on radio in Europe.

Over 2,700 listeners have joined the "Teraz K-POP" Facebook group where they share K-pop news and song requests on the program in real time. In addition to introducing a lot of popular songs, the program also covers a variety of topics such as Christmas in Korea and TV show soundtracks, as well as entertainment programs, like "Learning Korean” and '' Idol Quiz,” which are both fixed sections of the program.

Klaudia Tyszkiewicz, host of the program, said, “I got interested in K-pop when I was just curious about Asia about seven years ago. I fell in love with K-pop after listening to Super Junior and seeing them on stage. I wouldn’t be surprised if people who just happen to tune in and listen to the show by chance are now interested in Korean pop music. I'll try to introduce various genres of modern Korean music, such as hip-hop and indie music, too, and not limit our music to only K-pop, since there's so much good Korean hip-hop and indie music out there."
