Although it's impossible to see what the host cities will look like after the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games are over, one thing is for sure: it will be spring.
“Spring of PyeongChang,” an exhibition open from April 25 to May 9 at the Culture Station Seoul 284 gallery, is all about the upcoming Winter Games and imagining what the host cities will be like after the closing ceremony.
In the exhibition, 22 design teams present their works of art on four themes: the Winter Olympics and the local way of life, the nine views of Gangwon-do Province, "movable space for new experience – dish washing car," and “read, eat and connect.”
Director Choi Bonghyun of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation explains the importance of the 'Spring of PyeongChang' exhibition during its opening ceremony at the Culture Station Seoul 284 gallery in Seoul on April 25.
"The 'Spring of PyeongChang' exhibition is designed to help visualize the winter before the Winter Games begin and the spring after the games are over,” said Director Choi Bonghyun of the Korea Craft & Design Foundation. “We will continue to present exhibitions on public design to promote its value.”
“I hope you enjoy the short but exciting spring,” said Kim Youngsan, deputy minister for culture and arts policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
“The exhibition to promote Gangwon-do Province, the host province for the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, begins today,” Kim said. “The works of art on display here show various scenes of life in Gangwon-do Province in the form of public design,” he said.
