Hahm Hee-eunKorean pop stars continue to travel around the world and to make history in the growing popularity of Korean pop music, TV shows and movies in East Asia and elsewhere.
BTS won four awards at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards in the U.S., and on the same day Black Pink became the first Korean pop girl group to enter the U.K.’s Official Charts on June 22.
BTS swept all of its categories, including Best Duo/Group, Best Dance Track, and Best Song That Makes You Smile, at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards held at the Hollywood Dolby Theater. The largest BTS fan club, called the Army, also won the Fiercest Fans award.
The Radio Disney Music Awards, operated by the U.S. radio network Radio Disney, nominated all their groups based on a fan vote, except for a few achievement awards.

On the same day, Blackpink also became the first K-pop girl group to be named on the U.K. Official Chart. The U.K.’s Official Chart, along with the Billboard in U.S., and Oricon in Japan, are the three major music charts in the world.
Blackpink’s first mini-album, “Square Up,” and the title track, "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du," ranked 78th on the U.K. Official Singles Chart Top 100. The Official Chart announced on its official Twitter profile that, “Blackpink becomes the first K-pop girl group to enter the U.K.’s Official Singles Chart.”
Previously, Blackpink ranked 17th on the U.K.’s Official Trending Chart Top 20 on June 19. The chart introduces 20 of the most popular songs that are new and inspiring for current U.K. music trends.
