Korea's first sci-fi blockbuster "Space Sweepers" topped the global Netflix rankings for a film following its worldwide release on Feb. 5.

The VOD and streaming data provider FlixPatrol on Feb. 8 said the movie on Feb. 6 was No. 1 on Netflix with 525 points and the next day with 648.

"Space Sweepers" on Feb. 6 was the most watched film on the streaming site in 16 countries including Croatia, Belgium and France and in 28 countries the next day including Taiwan, Vietnam, Russia and Denmark.

Starring actors Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae-ri, Jin Seon-kyu and Yoo Hae-jin, the film is about four members of a space junk collection team in 2092. They discover a child robot named Dorothy that is also a weapon of mass destruction.

The movie debuted on Netflix on Feb. 5 after COVID-19 canceled plans to release the film in cinemas last year.
