An international forum will discuss the peaceful handling of conflicts over global cultural heritage and effective implementation of related agreements.

The Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) on Feb. 16 announced that it will jointly host the webinar series "World Heritage, Multiple Memories" with Preparatory Office for the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites.

Six webinars will be held from this month to July, with each to be held in a debate format featuring four experts on international cultural heritage.

The topic of the first webinar aired on Feb. 17 was "New Approaches to World Heritage Conservation: World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation."

Next month's topic is "Dissonance on World Heritage, Multiple Voices with Different Memories."

The first webinar aired on Feb. 17 was about "New Approaches to World Heritage Conservation: World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation" and broadcast on the Facebook and YouTube pages of the Preparatory Office for the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites. The webinar is available in recorded form after its livestream.

Conducted entirely in English, each webinar has a debate for about an hour and a Q&A session for 20 minutes. Up to 100 viewers can watch it live via Zoom on a first-come, first-served basis. The event is also aired live for the public on YouTube and Facebook and available for viewing after the livestream.

The CHA said, "Various perspectives on cultural heritage have not been reflected well. Conflicts between countries and regions have emerged due to a variety of memories, such as Japan's recent push to designate its modern industrial facilities as World Heritage."

"Through this webinar series, we seek to discuss the gist of 'disputed cultural heritage' and how such conflicts should be managed."
