U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on March 18 posted photos of himself having
sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) on his personal Twitter account during his visit to Korea.
In a caption to a picture of him eating the stew, he said, "I remembered how delicious the Sundubu-jjigae tasted back in 2016 on my last trip to Seoul," adding, "I'm so glad I was able to enjoy it again during this visit!"
Visiting in October 2016 as deputy secretary of state, the diplomat had the stew at a restaurant in Seoul's Jongno-gu District recommended by then U.S. Ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert, who served from 2014-17.
Secretary Blinken's acclaim for the stew went viral in Korea at the time.
He and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin finished their two-day visit to Korea and departed for home on March 18.
