K-pop sensation BLACKPINK is now the world's biggest artist on YouTube.
As of Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. Korean Standard Time (KST), the girl group's YouTube channel reached 65.3 million subscribers, surpassing that of global pop star Justin Bieber, to take over the top spot on the list of artists with the most subscribers on the video-sharing platform.
BLACKPINK's milestone came five years and three months after the channel was opened on June 28, 2016.
The group's label YG Entertainment said the number of the channel's subscribers on the afternoon of Sept. 10 exceeded that of Bieber's (65.1 million) right after BLACKPINK member Lisa released her solo track. The group's figure reached 66.1 million on Sept. 12 in the afternoon.
The music video for Lisa's debut solo track "Lalisa" was released on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. (KST) on YouTube and has received tremendous love from fans worldwide. The video attracted 70.5 million views in 24 hours and surpassed 100 million views on Sept. 12 at 2:04 p.m.
