"Hellbound," an original six-episode Korean series on Netflix, has topped the streaming site's global rankings for TV shows just a day after its release on Nov. 19.

FlixPatrol, a U.S.-based provider of data on video on demand and streaming, on Nov. 21 said the series was the most popular TV show on Netflix worldwide as of Nov. 20.

The ranking calculates the viewing rate of content based on the previous 24 hours. No. 1 on Netflix in 90 countries earns 10 points and No. 2 nine.

"Hellbound" took first place in 24 countries including Korea, Belgium, Hong Kong, Jamaica, Mexico and Saudi Arabia, second in France and Brazil, and third in the U.S., Canada and Turkey.

The drama took the top spot in just one day, far faster than the six needed by the smash series "Squid Game."

"Squid Game," which had long maintained the top position, fell to second, thus making two pieces of Korean content Nos. 1 and 2 on the chart.

Based on the eponymous Korean webtoon, "Hellbound" is about people suddenly condemned to hell by angels of death who appear unexpectedly. The drama also depicts the revival of a pseudo-religious organization Saejinri, which takes advantage of the social turmoil, and the struggle of those seeking to uncover the truth.

Directed and written by Yeon Sang-ho of "Train to Busan" fame, the series has a cast featuring the famous actors Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo and Park Jung-min.
