Spotify, the world's largest music streaming site, said K-pop songs were streamed an average of nearly 8 billion times per month over the year-long period since the platform's debut in Korea.
The site on Feb. 15 announced this achievement on the occasion of its first anniversary of its debut on the Korean market.
K-pop songs over the period were streamed an average of 7.97 billion times per month worldwide, Spotify said, up 27% from the previous year before the site entered the market.
Among Spotify's 406 million users in 184 countries, the 10 countries with the most listeners who newly discovered Korean artists were the U.S., Brazil, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Germany, the U.K., the Philippines, Japan and France.
K-pop Hub, a one-stop destination on Spotify featuring a wide range of Korean music and artists, saw 1.43 billion streams ahead of the one-year anniversary, up 19.5%.
Countries with the most users of the hub were India, Indonesia, the U.S., Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Mexico and Taiwan in that order.
Spotify has conducted many activities since launching in Korea a year ago.
