Kim Woo-jin, a former member of the K-pop boy group Stray Kids, will play the lead in an original series of the over-the-top streaming service HBO Max.
His agency 10x Entertainment on April 18 said, "Kim Woo-jin will appear in the lead role in the HBO Max series 'Alem do Guarda-Roupa' (Portuguese for 'Beyond The Wardrobe'), which will be released next year."
The drama is about a teenage girl in Sao Paulo, Brazil, who discovers a teleporting portal in a closet that takes her to the Seoul dormitory of the popular K-pop boy band Act. Korean Brazilian actor Sharon Blanche will portray the main female character Carol and Kim will play Act member Gyeong-min.
This is the first global project of HBO Max to feature Korean actors. The streaming service through its Korean branch announced the launch of its official service this year in the country, and "Alem" is expected to be available in Korea as well.
The drama's Act will be played by Kim, Newkidd member Jin kwon, former XRO member Jae Chan and actor Lee Min-wook. Kim left Stray Kids in October 2019 due to personal issues and made his solo debut in July last year with the single "Still Dream."
The main female protagonist of "Alem do Guarda-Roupa" will be played by Korean Brazilian actor Sharon Blanche.
