The 2022 Museum Week kicked off on May 13 nationwide for a 10-day run ending on May 22.

The event commemorates International Museum Day on May 18 and seeks to raise awareness of the importance and roles of museums and galleries. The cohosts are the International Council of Museums' (ICOM) Korean committee and National Museum Foundation of Korea.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 9 announced the week's ICOM-designated theme as "The Power of Museums" and said the event seeks the "benevolent effects" of museums and galleries, which contribute to social development.

This year's edition features 31 exhibitions and events including "Making a Museum Together" (unofficial title) and "Museums on the Street" (unofficial title).
