The video "Cheong Wa Dae, Midsummer Night Walk Online Travel" has been released to allow the public to feel a summer night mood.

The Cultural Heritage Administration's (CHA) committee for opening Cheong Wa Dae to the public and the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation on July 18 said the video was uploaded on the homepage of Cheong Wa Dae's opening (https://www.opencheongwadae.kr/eng) and shows the summer night tour and related programs.

This video shows the evening mood at the compound, a venue with a considerably different vibe at night than by day, like a bird's-eye view from the sky, music resounding from the former presidential residence, the illuminated reception hall Sangchunjae and pine trees at the garden Nokjiwon.

The tour starts at the main gate and proceeds to the grand garden, main office building, Sugungteo (rear garden of Gyeongbokgung Palace), the presidential residence, Sangchunjae and Nokjiwon before returning to the main gate.

The CHA said it decided to release the video for people who unsuccessfully applied for the tour or those unable to visit the compound.

From July 20 to Aug. 1, the night tour will be held twice a day with up to 50 people in each time slot. A combined 55,132 people applied for the tour's 1,200 spots. Since each successful applicant could reserve two tickets, the competition ratio was 91.8:1.

The committee said, "Through the eyes of viewers, this video will give the feeling of traveling via LAN by capturing everywhere in Cheong Wa Dae at night," adding, "We will run a variety of programs so that Cheong Wa Dae lives and breathes with the people as a historical and cultural space."
