The K-pop super group BTS, who is also a promotional ambassador for Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo, will hold a concert on Oct. 15 to boost the port city's campaign.
Through the live global fan platform Weverse, the boy band's management agency Big Hit Music on Aug. 24 said, "We are holding a free in-person concert, LIVE PLAY, and online live streaming of WORLD EXPO 2030 BUSAN KOREA CONCERT BTS
The concert venue will be a makeshift stage at the former site of the glass factory of HanGlas in Busan's Gijang-gun County and big enough to host 100,000 people. The livestreamed event Live Play is slated for 10,000 spectators at the outdoor parking lot of the international passenger terminal of the Port of Busan.
The concert will be livestreamed through platforms such as Weverse, Zepeto (metaverse platform), Naver and Now.
The concert is free for both in-person and online attendance, and reservations can be made on the online shopping mall Interpark. The booking schedule will be released later.
Yonhap News said that as soon as the concert schedule was released, accommodations near the venue were instantly fully booked. Quoting online accommodation and travel platform Yanolja, the report added that facilities close to the subway stations Gijang and Ilgwang were all sold out for Oct. 14, the day before the concert.
This will be BTS' first solo concert to feature 100,000 spectators either at home or abroad.
The group had earlier announced taking a break but scheduled the Busan concert seven months after holding "BTS Permission to Dance on Stage - Seoul" in March. Held at the main stadium of Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul's Songpa-gu District, the Seoul event saw all seven group members perform together.
