The opening ceremony for the venue was held on Aug. 30 in the Bukchon neighborhood of Seoul's Jongno-gu District by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Korean Food Promotion Institute and Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp.
Hansik Space is a combination of the former Hansik Gallery, Korea Food Grand Master Center and Sool (alcoholic beverage) Gallery and hosts exhibitions, promotions and educational content on Korean food and traditional liquor in one setting.
The facility has one basement floor and two above-ground floors.
The basement floor houses Hansik Library, which stores about 2,400 books on food, and E:eum Hall, where book concerts and research and academic programs are held.
