BTS member Jungkook is the first Korean act to sing the official song of the World Cup soccer finals by performing "Dreamers" at the opening ceremony of this year's tournament in Qatar.

His performance on Nov. 20 at Al-Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, featured the theme "Harmony of Humankind." Wearing a black outfit, he did a lavish number along with dozens of dancers. Qatari singer Fahad Al Kubaisi joined the middle of the song and sang along, raising the atmosphere to new heights.

Qatar is the first Mideast nation to host the World Cup in the event's 92-year history.

Advancing to its 10th consecutive World Cup, Korea aims to qualify for the knockout round for the first time since the 2010 edition in South Africa. It faces in Group H Uruguay, Ghana and Portugal, with its first game on Nov. 24 at 10 p.m. (Korean Standard Time) against Uruguay.

For the fifth straight year, BTS on Nov. 20 won the American Music Award (AMA) for Favorite Pop Duo or Group.

One of the three biggest music honors in the U.S., the AMAs last year saw BTS become the first Korean act to win Artist of the Year.
