The New York Times has named "Cookie" by K-pop girl group NewJeans one of the best songs of the year.
The daily on Dec. 7 released its "Best Songs of 2022" list of 70 tunes selected by three pop music critics.
Critic Jon Caramanica ranked the song 11th as the lone K-pop tune among the 22 he selected.
"Most striking about 'Cookie,' the best song from the debut EP by the impressive young K-pop girl group NewJeans, is its ease — no maximalism, no theater," he said.
Debuting in July this year with its self-titled mini-album that dominated album and soundtrack charts, NewJeans next month will release its new single "OMG."
