K-pop acts last year dominated the American market for CD albums.

Billboard of the U.S. and Luminate, a music and entertainment data analysis company, on Jan. 11 jointly released an annual report on the American music industry last year that said seven of the 10 bestselling CD albums were by K-pop acts.

BTS' anthology album "Proof" was second on the chart with 413,000 copies sold.

"Minisode 2: Thursday's Child," an EP by Tomorrow X Together aka TXT, ranked third with 227,000.

Stray Kids' mini-album "Oddinary" sold 204,000 copies for fifth place, followed by Twice's EP "Between 1&2" at sixth with 199,000, Stray Kids' EP "Maxident" seventh with 177,000, Enhypen's mini-album "Manifesto: Day 1" eighth with 173,000 and NCT 127's studio album "2 Baddies" 10th with 148,000.

Billboard said, "K-pop titles sell particularly well on the CD format," adding that such CDs are "usually housed in elaborate packaging with branded paper goods contained inside."

Topping the CD album chart was Taylor Swift's "Midnights" with sales of 640,000.

Harry Styles's third regular album "Harry's House" was fourth with 219,000 and Beyonce's seventh regular album "Renaissance" ninth with 163,000.

The rankings in the report are based on sales of both physical and digital albums in the U.S. from Dec. 31, 2021 through Dec. 29 last year.
