Netflix is set to release this year 34 Korean movies, dramas and programs.

NBC News of the U.S. on Jan. 17 said the 34 titles will comprise the "biggest-ever lineup of Korean films and series."

The lineup comprises 21 drama series, five reality shows, six movies and two documentaries.

Quoting a document released by Netflix, the report said, "Korean content on the platform has continued to grow, with over 60 percent of all Netflix users watching Korean titles last year."

Don Kang, vice president of content for Netflix Korea, said, "Over the last year, Korean series and films have regularly featured in our Global Top 10 list in more than 90 countries, and three of Netflix's most-watched shows ever are from Korea."

Among this year's anticipated Korean content is "Yellow Door: Looking for Director Bong's Unreleased Short Film (working title)," a documentary on the early career of Bong Joon-ho, director of the Academy Award-winning movie "Parasite."

Other releases include "A Time Called You," a remake of the popular Taiwanese TV drama "Someday or One Day," and "Gyeongseong Creature," a thriller series set in 1945 before Japan's surrender in World War II and division of the Korean Peninsula.

The second part of the hit Netflix original series "The Glory" and Season 2 of the supernatural drama "Sweet Home" are also forthcoming.

"The global popularity of Korean media and culture, known as the 'Korean Wave,' is still proving successful in the U.S., with shows like 'Squid Game' being Netflix’s most successful series launch of all time," NBC News said.

"For its part, Netflix has been steadily investing in Korean content — reportedly over $500 million in 2021 and even more in 2022."
