Jimin, a member of the K-pop super group BTS, has debuted as a solo artist on the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 2 with his first solo EP "Face."

In an article forecasting the online album chart for the week of April 8, Billboard on April 2 said "Face" was second on the chart with sales of 164,000 units.

This is the best showing on the chart in history by a solo K-pop artist. Fellow BTS member and group leader RM held the previous mark set in December last year when his solo project went to No. 3.

The Billboard 200 is based on the sales volume of traditional physical albums, the number of streams converted into stream-equivalent albums (SEAs) and that of digital music downloads converted into track-equivalent albums (TEAs).

"Face" sold 124,000 physical CDs, 13,500 SEAs and 26,500 TEAs to see the third-biggest sales in a week and the largest for a solo act this year. Its TEA download figure also hit a yearly high.

Jimin's EP is his first official solo album released 10 years after his debut. The six songs include the title track "Like Crazy" and the pre-release song "Set Me Free Pt. 2," which landed at No. 30 on the Billboard's main singles chart Hot 100.
