Director Kim Tae-gon's film "Escape: Project Silence" will make its global premiere in the Midnight Screening section of this year's Cannes Film Festival in France.
CJ ENM, the movie's production agency, on May 18 said "Escape" found buyers in 140 countries including France, the U.S., Germany, Spain, Italy, Hong Kong and Japan.
The agency said the film drew buyer attention abroad thanks to its invitation to Cannes and high expectations for the work's concept, genre and scale.
"Escape" will make its world premiere on May 22 at 12:30 a.m. (7:30 a.m. Korean Standard Time) at Lumiere Grand Theater in Cannes.
The plot is how people stranded on an airport bridge on the verge of collapse struggle to survive a string of unexpected disasters.
Lee Sun-kyun and Ju Ji-hoon play the lead roles with a supporting cast of Kim Hee-won, Moon Seong-geun, Ye Soo-jung and Kim Tae-woo.
"Escape" will make its domestic premiere later this year.
