The Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Washington on June 12 at 7 p.m. will host the concert "OnStage Korea 2023 Season: Second Moon" at Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia.

Since 2017, the KCC has hosted this annual event to help talented ethnic Korean musicians perform in America and introduce Korean music in the area by inviting figures from major arts organizations.

Marking the 70th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. alliance, this year's edition in Virginia, a rising hub for culture and the performing arts, will offer residents there the opportunity to enjoy Korean culture in their daily lives.

The headline act Second Moon is a seven-member fusion band that mainly plays European folk instruments to perform crossover music featuring collaboration with a range of genres.

In 2006, the group at the third Korean Music Awards (KMA) won the honors Rookie of the Year and Album of the Year for "Second Moon," its debut album released the year before. For its gugak (traditional music) project "Pansori Chunhyang-ga" released in 2016, it earned the KMA for Best Jazz and Crossover Album at the 14th KMAs the following year.

The troupe is known for composing and performing music in a range of genres like movie soundtracks and musicals.

Second Moon's repertoire includes "Moonlight Flows," a creative piece with a modern adaptation of the unique vocal style of pansori (solo lyrical opera) and expression of the nation's traditional music, as well as "Love Song," "Farewell Song" and "Farmer's Song."

Admission to the concert is free and ticket reservations are available on the KCC's official website: (https://washingtondc.korean-culture.org/ko).
