The Seoul Design Foundation on Aug. 23 announced its hosting of this year's DDP Autumn Festival: Design & Art from Aug. 31 to Sept. 30 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul's Dongdaemun-gu District.

The festival offers the opportunity for visitors to see multi-disciplinary exhibitions at DDP all at once as well as the works of foreign artists that are usually hard to see. Seven exhibitions and related forums, workshops and seminars are also scheduled.

Slated from Aug. 31 to Sept. 10, this year's Seoul Light DDP 2023 Autumn under the theme "Digital Nature" presents the digital artwork "Meta-Nature AI" on DDP's media facade by Miguel Chevalier, a renowned French digital artist considered a pioneer in virtual and digital art.

The exhibition "Borealis," a collaborative OLED art project between Swiss installation artist Dan Acher and LG Electronics, will show on the grass hill of DDP the image of an aurora, an astronomical phenomenon observable only in the Arctic Circle.

The exhibition

The exhibition "Borealis," which shows an image of an aurora from atop Dongdaemun Design Plaza's grass hill, is a collaborative OLED artwork by Swiss installation artist Dan Acher and LG Electronics.

Public installations by Austrian graphic designer Stefan Sagmeister will be set up from Sept. 25 on the grass hill. His works combine artistic designs with data on Korea's life expectancy from the past 120 years on and visually express positive social changes.

Another exhibition, "Midnight in Seoul," expresses the time in Seoul through visual arts, and "Dynamite Looks" is a collaboration with Eland Museum that showcases the stage costumes worn by K-pop sensation BTS at the Grammy Awards of the U.S.

Admission is free.
