The government-run Korea Minting and Security Printing Corp. (KOMSCO) on Aug. 24 released the designs for the second set of commemorative medals for the 10th anniversary of the debut of K-pop sensation BTS.

The designs for the first set were released in December last year. The second collection has the engraved portraits of all seven members in lines and dots at least 10μm (micrometers) thick.

The gold medal pictures each member from head to toe, while the silver has close-up portraits with high detail. The gold and silver were spread thin like paper and later delicately engraved with laser to make the medals look like real currency.

KOMSCO on Aug. 24 released the designs for the second set of commemorative medals for the 10th anniversary of BTS' debut, with the fronts shown on the left and the backs on the right. The medals were initially made in CD form in A5 size.

The second set will go on sale early next month at home and abroad, with UNICEF to get a portion of the proceeds.

"To present medals commemorating the 10th anniversary of the debut of BTS, who has become a global artist, for two years is highly significant," KOMSCO CEO Bahn Jahng-shick said. "The release of the medals that integrate new technology with the portraits of BTS members is an opportunity to promote their value as a cultural artwork of high quality."

After their release schedule for this year is decided, the medals will be sold on KOMSCO's online shopping mall (www.koreamint.com) and the official social media channels of BTS' management agency Hybe.
