The original Netflix series "Mask Girl" has topped the streaming service's weekly chart for TV shows not in English in its second week of release.
Netflix Top 10, an official site that collects weekly data on the times users spend watching the site, on Aug. 30 said the black comedy was No. 1 on the non-English-language TV rankings with 7.4 million views for the week of Aug. 21-27.
The view count is calculated by dividing the number of hours that a program was watched by its combined running time. Thus "Mask Girl" was viewed a combined 50.8 million hours worldwide, with the series comprising seven episodes that collectively span six hours and 53 minutes.
Since its Aug. 18 release, the drama has reached the top 10 in 72 countries including Korea, Canada, France, Egypt, Hong Kong, Japan and Germany.
Based on the eponymous webtoon, "Mask Girl" is about white-collar worker Kim Momi, who has a complex about her looks and encounters an unexpected incident while livestreaming on the internet as a masked vlogger.
Over the same period "Destined with You" starring Jo Bo-ah and Rowoon ranked fourth on the list with 3.5 million views and "Behind Your Touch" with Han Ji-min and Lee Min-ki ninth with 1.7 million.
