The K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has won two MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), one of the four major pop music honors of the U.S.
The awards' official website on Sept. 12 said the group won Group of the Year and Best Choreography for this year.
At the awards ceremony, the group received nominations in six categories: Group of the Year, Show of the Summer, Best K-pop, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction and Best Editing.
The K-pop boy band BTS claimed Group of the Year for four consecutive years from 2019-22. BLACKPINK is the first K-pop girl group to win the honor.
BLACKPINK also won Best Choreography for the pre-release song from its second regular album "Pink Venom."
Other K-pop groups who won included Jungkook of BTS, who won Song of Summer for his solo debut single "Seven." STRAY KIDS earned Best K-pop for the title song from their third regular album "S-Class" and TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) claimed PUSH Performance of the Year.
BLACKPINK and Jungkook did not attend the ceremony at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, while Stray Kids and TXT performed.
