The English-language edition of writer Chung Bora (Bora Chung)'s "Cursed Bunny" is a finalist in the category Translated Literature for this year's National Book Award of the U.S.

The National Book Foundation, which gives the honor, on Oct. 3 announced the five candidates longlisted for the category that included "Cursed Bunny."

As one of her leading collection of stories published in 2017, the book features tales of curses and revenge by Chung, who focuses on the sci-fi, horror and fantasy genres.

Translated into English by Anton Hur, a Swedish-born Korean, "Cursed Bunny" was published by Algonquin Books, an affiliate of Hachette Book Group of the U.S.

The other finalists in the category are "Abyss" by Pilar Quintana (Colombia), "On a Woman's Madness" by Astrid Roemer (Netherlands), "The Words That Remain" by Stenio Gardel (Brazil) and "Beyond the Door of No Return" by David Diop (France).

"Cursed Bunny" is the sole Asian finalist.

Founded in 1950, the annual award is given by the National Book Foundation in the five categories of Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Translated Literature and Young People's Literature.

The winner of this year's Translated Literature award will be announced on Nov. 15.
