Mexico will host next week a festival on Korean lifestyle culture and K-pop.
The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Oct. 26 said it will jointly host with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange this year's Mokkoji Korea from Oct. 27-28 at the headquarters of the Mexican Olympic Committee in Mexico City.
Over the period, an exhibition on Korean lifestyle culture and experiences, interactive traditional games and a K-pop dance challenge will be held for Hallyu (Korean Wave) fans. A promotional booth will also promote Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo.
The festival's main event or "highlight" is "Mokkoji Concert" on Oct. 28 from 7 p.m. and featuring performances by K-pop acts such as NCT DREAM and MCND. Participants will also discuss Korean lifestyle culture as seen in K-dramas and entertainment programs.
The ministry said, "Hallyu's popularity in Mexico, which began after the airing of Korean dramas there from the early 2000s, is high and enthusiasm for K-pop is spreading daily, especially among youth."
Launched in 2020, Mokkoji Korea attracts Hallyu aficionados worldwide to learn and enjoy Korean lifestyle culture such as Hansik (traditional food), beauty, fashion and games. The term mokkoji is a purely Korean word for a game, festival or activity that attracts a crowd of people.
More information on the festival's events and schedule is available in English and Spanish on Mokkoji Korea's official website (mokkojikorea.com).
