The official poster for this year's Jeonju International Film Festival (JIFF) in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province, has been released.

The festival's organizing committee on Feb. 14 said in a news release that "this year's official poster was inspired by the spiraling sprout stage of plants, conveying the meaning of infinite growth and expansion."

Using a graphic of the letter "J" from Jeonju infinitely spinning and extending in the festival's main color of Jeonju red, the poster conveys the event's vision in a lively manner.

Behind the design were globally active designers Jang Wooseok (Korea), Line Arngaard (Denmark) and Zuzana Kostelanska (Slovakia).

This year's JIFF has a record 747 entries from 81 countries for its International Competition. The country sending the most submissions was Iran (110), followed by China (85), India (54) and France (46).

The Korean film category received a festival-record 1,513 entries, up 214 or 16.47% from last year. The number of film entries overall rose 18.75% (357) from last year's 1,903, reflecting rising interest in JIFF.

The festival will run from May 1-10 throughout the city, including Jeonju Film Street.
