The Museum of Fine Arts Boston will host the exhibition "Hallyu! The Korean Wave" to spotlight the Korean Wave phenomenon.
From March 24 through July 28, the event will feature 250 items like costumes made by fashion designers and movie props and posters as well as traditional moon jars, Hanbok (traditional attire) and Buddhist scripture containers from the museum's collection.
The pieces on display will feature aspects of Hallyu ranging from iconic K-pop acts like PSY, BTS and aespa to costumes shown in the smash Netflix series "Squid Game." They will also include works by couture designer Park Sohee and creators from the traditional fashion company Darcygom, which blends the traditional with the modern.
With a massive collection of over 500,000 classic and contemporary works, the Boston museum is considered a leading American art museum along with the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Art Institute of Chicago.
In addition to the exhibition, the museum from next month to May will host lectures and performances related to Korean cinema, fashion, fine arts and K-pop to offer visitors a more rounded understanding of Korean culture.
