Government policy officials, K-pop acts, content creators and influencers have gathered to explore the role of Korean content in overcoming the climate crisis.
The Korea Cultural Industry Forum and Coalition for Our Common Future on March 26 held the Sustainable K-content Forum sponsored by the Presidential Commission on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at Content Korea Lab in Seoul's Jung-gu District.
The event's purpose was to stress and disseminate the need for a new cultural force to tackle the imminent global crisis of climate change.
Among the 100-plus people in attendance were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yu In Chon, commission co-chair Kim Sang-hyup, Korea Cultural Industry Forum Co-chair Lee Jang-woo and K-pop group n.SSign, as well as content creators Noah, Kejimin and inoCat.
Participants read the Green Code Declaration for Sustainable K-Content. "We will spread awareness of the severity of the climate crisis and strive to build a cultural ecosystem to achieve a sustainable, fair and resilient society," they said in a pledge. "We will also practice green living and actively participate in achieving carbon neutrality."
"As the success of Hallyu (Korean Wave) grows, so does its sense of responsibility," forum co-chair Lee said. "It's time for Hallyu's positive influence to tackle global issues."
