A K-pop dance event opening late this month at the country's leading tourist attractions will mark Visit Korea Year 2024.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 22 said that along with the Visit Korea Committee, it will host "K-pop Playground" from May 31 through September in famous provincial festivals.

Related programs include the K-pop Random Play Dance Contest and K-Culture Glitter Store, which displays Korean content products and offers the chance to experience domestic culture.

The contest will see the participation of renowned dance crews like HolyBang, Hook and Ladybounce and K-pop groups such as H1-KEY and Billlie.

The event will open on May 31 in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province, during the Chuncheon Mime Festival and eventually spread to 10 regions over the course of provincial festivals in Busan (Busan One Asia Festival), Hongdae in Seoul's Mapo-gu District (Korea Beauty Festival), Daegu (Daegu Chimac Festival) and Boryeong, Chungcheongnam-do Province (Boryeong Mud Festival).

More information on "K-pop Playground" is available on its official website:

"We hope that domestic and foreign fans who love K-pop will enjoy 'K-pop Playground' together and that it further boosts provincial festivals and tourist attractions," said Park Jong Taek, director general of the ministry's Tourism Policy Bureau. "The Culture Ministry will further stimulate domestic tourism by providing a variety of things to do and enjoy based on K-content."
