Upcoming events in France will promote Korean literature in Europe and help the sector to advance to foreign markets.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea on June 11 announced a series of exhibitions and Q&As with writers in Paris to mark the Paris Summer Olympics.

Under the theme "Korean Culture's Source," an exhibition of published content such as picture books, literature, webtoons and drama sources will run through August at the Korean Cultural Center in the French capital.

Four picture book writers -- Kim Sang-Keun, Oh Sena, Lee Soyoung and Jung Jin-Ho -- from June 11-13 will hold workshops for children on drawing and crafts at bookstores, libraries and schools in Paris.

A "book talk" among Korean and French writers is slated for June 14 at BULAC (University Library of Languages and Civilizations). Jung, Oh and French picture book author Adrien Parlange will discuss how the physical properties of picture books enrich the narrative, while Lee, Kim and French writer Marie Caudry will cover narrative landscapes that contain stories of intimate emotions and relationships.

Lectures by invited Korean authors from Aug. 6-7 will be held at the small theater of the Paris Olympics Korea House during the Olympics period. And the K-Expo France in October will also promote Korean literary works and writers.
