The Korean original musical "Fan Letter" has been performed on stage as a licensed show in China and Japan, receiving nine local awards.

Content production company Live said on Jan. 22 that the Chinese production clinched seven awards in the annual ceremony of the China Musical Association.

"Fan Letter" won awards for the most popular licensed musical, best actor, lighting design, stage design, and popular partner.

The musical is set in the 1930s, during the Japanese annexation of the Korean Peninsula, and portrays the lives of Kim Yoo-jung and Lee Sang, two of the leading artists and writers of that time.

The Japanese-licensed performance of "Fan Letter" won the best translation and play awards at the 17th Odashima Yushi Award.

The musical has also been nominated in the best actor, best supporting actor and translation sections at the Musical Awards Tokyo ceremony slated to be held on Feb. 6.
