The 26th annual Jeonju International Film Festival opened on April 30 at Moak Hall of Sori Arts Center of Jeonbuk State in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do Province.

Under the slogan "Beyond the Frame," this year's edition runs for 10 days through May 9, screening 224 movies from 57 countries.

The opening film is "Kontinental '25," the latest work by Romanian director Radu Jude. Shot entirely on a smartphone, the movie won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at this year's Berlin International Film Festival.

Actors Kim Shin-rok and Seo Hyeon-woo will host the opening ceremony. The red carpet event will feature filmmakers and stars from Korea and abroad like director Bae Chang-ho and actors Song Ji-hyo and Ahn So-hee.

Singer-actor Lee Jung-hyun is the festival's J Special: Programmer of the Year, which allowed her to select the works to screen for this section based on her cinematic perspectives and taste. She will introduce the opening film and its cast at the ceremony.

The closing film is "In the Land of Machines," a documentary by Korean director Kim Okyoung on the lives of three Nepalese migrant workers in Korea.
