The conclusion of the challenge for KRW 45.6 billion in the final season of "Squid Game" comes on June 27.

Netflix on May 6 unveiled its official trailer for the third and final installment of the smash series along with a teaser poster. Under the message "The Final Games Begin," the trailer released on the streaming site's official YouTube channel has gained tremendous attention with 1.15 million views as of May 7 at 11 a.m. (KST).

The finale of the smash series will show the fate of game survivors Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), the protagonist who loses his best friend while playing the game again for his own purposes, and the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who takes part in the game while hiding his identity.

The previous season portrayed an all-out confrontation between Gi-hun and the Front Man, and the third will show the choice Gi-hun makes out of despair after being frustrated over his plan's spectacular failure.

The trailer begins with the game's guards entering the player dormitory while carrying a coffin amid upbeat music. Lying inside the coffin is Gi-hun, who opens his eyes.

In the next scene, players randomly draw red or blue balls, raising interest in their next game. Also shown is detective Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-jun), who is still looking for the game zone, and guard Kang No-eul (Park Gyu-young), who inspects the zone alone.

Creating a global K-drama craze after its debut in September 2021, the series saw continued success with its second season, which attracted a combined 165.7 million views in the fourth quarter of last year. The seven-episode final season on June 27 will be released worldwide at the same time.
