The country's national heritage will be on full display at the Korea Week event of the Osaka-Kansai World Expo in Japan.
The Korea Heritage Service (KHS) on May 14 said that in collaboration with the Korea Heritage Agency (KHA), it is hosting the program "Korea on Stage" from May 13-17 under the Visit Cultural Heritage Campaign to coincide with the expo.
The KHS is also promoting the future value of Korean national heritage to a global audience through traditional performing arts by masters of intangible cultural heritage and media art exhibitions.
"Korea on Stage Ye-in: Soul of Life" features traditional performing arts by three people designated Intangible Cultural Heritage; pansori (traditional lyrical opera) singer Shin Younghee, seungmu (Buddhist dance) artist Chae Sangmook and musician Lee Jaehwa, who specializes in geomungo sanjo, or instrumental folk music played solo with the geomungo (six-stringed zither).
In addition, "Korea on Stage No-ri: Harmony in Motion" presented by the KHA's Performing Arts Group displays energetic performances of traditional folk arts.
The Korean Heritage Visitors' Passport Tour, a program using a decorative kit to stimulate interactive experiences, was organized with the performances and exhibitions to enchant visitors.
