Two landmarks in the capital from this weekend will host a Hallyu (Korean Wave) event including content from the hit Netflix series "Squid Game."
The Seoul Metropolitan Government from June 28 to July 6 will host K-Content Seoul Travel Week: Find the Soul Spot at Gwanghwamun Square and Seoul Plaza.
Netflix content will be featured at this event.
On the opening day of June 28, events will be held to coincide with the premiere of the third and final season of "Squid Game."
They include a parade with characters from the drama, photo zone, Soul Spot Booth and "Ddakji Man Gameplay" from Seoul Plaza to Gwanghwamun Square. The Ddakji Man, aka the Recruiter, is a character from the series who asks people to play ddakji, a traditional game of flipping folded paper tiles.
Leading "Squid Game" actors Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun will also attend a fan event broadcast on large on-site screens.
From June 29 to June 6 at Gwanghwamun Square, the event "Pop-up Gwanghwamun" will feature traditional Korean games shown in the drama and the pop-up booth Soul Spot Travel Information Center will offer Hallyu content and guides on things to see and eat. The Soul Spot Docent Tour will have expert commentary.
More information is on the event's official website (soulspot.co.kr/en/event).
