A domestic short film has won the grand prize at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, the world's top event for creative communications, advertising and related sectors.

"Night Fishing" on June 20 won the Grand Prix in the festival's Entertainment-Branded Content category and the Silver Lion in the Classic-Innovation in Film section.

Starring actor Son Suk-ku, the 13-minute science-fiction movie by Hyundai Motor is about a mysterious incident on a dark night at an electric vehicle charging station.

Holding the megaphone was director Moon Byung-gon, the first Korean to win the Palme d'Or in the Short Film Competition for "Safe" at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival. He is now the world's only director to win a leading top award from both Cannes festivals.

Launched in 1954 and held in France, Cannes Lions is an expo for the global marketing sector and consumers; it is considered one of the world's three major events of its kind along with the Clio Awards and the New York Festivals of the U.S.
