"Squid Game" on Aug. 19 won six Gold Derby Awards of the U.S. (Netflix)

The smash Netflix series "Squid Game" has further added to its global mystique by winning six honors of an American pop culture prize.

The website of the Gold Derby TV Awards on Aug. 19 said the K-drama won Best Drama Series, Drama Actor (Lee Jung-jae), Drama Supporting Actress (Kang Ae-sim), Drama Supporting Actor (Choi Seung-hyun), Drama Guest Actor (Gong Yoo) and Ensemble of the Year.

"Squid Game" achieved success with the release of its second season in December last year and its third in June this year, with its latest accolades seen as honoring both seasons.

The Gold Derby TV Awards recognize TV excellence in all categories like drama, comedy, variety and animation. Marking its 22nd edition, this year's event considered content released between 2024 and this year.
