The hit animated musical "KPop Demon Hunters" is the most viewed film in Netflix history just two months after its release.
The streaming site's official companion platform Netflix Tudum on Aug. 27 said the movie's cumulative views of 236 million was the largest for a film in the streaming site's history, beating the action thriller "Red Notice" (230.9 million) for the top spot.
"KPop Demon Hunters," an action fantasy film about the girl group HUNTR/X (Huntrix) who protects the human world from evil spirits, has taken the world by storm since its June 20 premiere.
In overall rankings including series, the blockbuster ranked third in all-time views on Netflix after the first seasons of "Squid Game" (265.2 million) and "Wednesday" (252.1 million).
"KPop Demon Hunters" last week also reclaimed the top spot for films in English with 25.4 million views.
The global phenomenon is also seeing a tremendous response at theaters. The sing-along version screened at cinemas worldwide from Aug. 23-24 topped the North American box office and its 1,000-plus screenings in countries like the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the U.K. were all sold out.
"KPop Demon Hunters" has also continued to dominate global music charts, with four tracks simultaneously entering the top 10 of the Billboard main singles chart Hot 100, a first in the American music magazine's 67-year history.
The latest Hot 100 released on Aug. 25 had the movie's track "Golden" reclaim No. 1 and "Your Idol" place fourth, "Soda Pop" fifth and "How It's Done" 10th.
