"KPop Demon Hunters" is the most-watched title in Netflix history 11 weeks after its release.
Tudum, the official companion site to the streaming giant, on Sept. 3 said the animated blockbuster reached a cumulative 266 million views, making it the all-time ratings king among movies and series in Netflix history. The movie surpassed the previous record held by the first season of "Squid Game" with 265.2 million after approximately four years.
Released on June 20, the film follows the K-pop girl group HUNTR/X (Huntrix) and its mission to protect the human world from evil spirits.
After nearly three months of release, the film showed unwavering popularity with 30.1 million views in the week of Aug. 25–31. It reaffirmed its blockbuster status by topping the movie charts of 35 countries including the U.S., France, Japan and Egypt.
Songs by the virtual groups HUNTR/X and Saja Boys on the soundtrack also kept up their dominance on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
"Golden" stayed at No. 1 on the latest chart released on Aug. 30, followed by "Your Idol" at fourth, "Soda Pop" fifth and "How It's Done" ninth.
