Downtown Seoul over the weekend is expected to attract hordes of visitors from home and abroad for a festival celebrating "KPop Demon Hunters," the most-watched piece of content in Netflix history.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government on Sept. 10 announced its hosting of the Seoul Hunters Festival on Sept. 14 from 6 p.m. at Seoul Plaza.
Cover performances by 10 domestic and international teams will feature music and choreography from famous scenes in the film. The squads were evenly selected from continents like Asia, the Americas and Europe.
The competition has two categories -- dance and vocal -- in a round-battle format using five songs from key scenes in the movie. Two dance and two vocal teams will be named the overall winners based on the judging panel and on-site feedback.
Contestants unable to visit Seoul can enter an online competition.
Audience participation is another highlight. Both spectators and participants can mingle on stage through events like point choreography lessons featuring the film's hit song "Soda Pop" given by professional dancers and "Random Play Dance," where participants bust moves to random K-pop songs.
The festival is free for the public. Major sections will be broadcast on Seoul Tourism Organization's YouTube channel "Visit Seoul TV" (youtube.com/@VisitSeoulTV).
