The limited series "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" is the latest Hallyu (Korean Wave) hit, topping the Netflix chart for shows not in English.

Netflix's official companion site Tudum on Sept. 17 in its latest tally covering Sept. 8–14 said the K-drama was No. 1 on the site's Global Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart. The series debuted in the top 10 in its first week, stayed at No. 2 for two consecutive weeks and finally reached the peak in its fourth week.

"Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" ranked in the top 10 in 65 countries and topped the charts in nine including Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines, Qatar and Malaysia.

Major global media also praised the series. Time magazine said the K-drama "is not primarily interested in telling an historical story. Rather, it seeks to tell an escapist and entertaining love story using a historical setting as a fantasy backdrop."

The New York Times added, "It's a grab bag of genres, but at its core it is a romantic comedy, with cooking as its love language," highlighting the power of food in drama.

"Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" is the story of a modern-day chef who travels to the past to the Joseon Dynasty and encounters a tyrannical king with royal standards of taste.
