The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Oct. 13 announced its joint hosting of the World Webtoon Festival from Oct. 19-22 at Lotte Town in Seoul's Songpa-gu District with the Korea Creative Content Agency.
Launched last year, the event seeks to stimulate communication among domestic and foreign creators, platforms, production companies and webtoon fans. The final day of Oct. 22 will see the ceremony for the World Webtoon Awards.
During the four-day event, webtoon lovers can expect events like a six-part exhibition; screenings of webtoons made into animated works and autograph events with creators.
Naver Webtoon and other online giants such as Netmarble and Wacom will participate by hosting webtoon exhibitions and interactive programs.
Theater No. 8 at Lotte Cinema World Tower will also offer diverse events such as talk concerts with webtoon creators whose works were adapted by other media such as the K-drama "Itaewon Class."
Admission is free. Preregistration is available on the event's official website (https://www.wefe.kr) or on-site.
